Our Program
The overarching goal of our research and extension program is to contribute to the economic and environmental sustainability of weed control in trees, vines, and a range of other California crops. We seek to develop integrated pest management solutions for weeds and other pests using a variety of chemical and non-chemical approaches and to help address environmental challenges with weed control tactics. Much of our current research is focused on herbicide issues including: weed control efficacy, registration support, and crop injury-related issues in permanent crops, non-chemical weed control tactics, and on the biology and management of parasitic weeds in processing tomatoes.
In order to find practical solutions to complex agricultural and environmental problems, we conduct multi-disciplinary research at the laboratory, greenhouse, and field scale and extend this knowledge to growers, crop consultants, and regulatory partners through the cooperative extension network.
